Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines for Submission to the Journal Aplikasi Sains Data

Welcome to the Jurnal Aplikasi Sains Data. We invite original research papers, review articles, and short communications related to data science and its various applications across diverse fields. Please follow these guidelines carefully when preparing your manuscript for submission.

1. Types of Articles Accepted

The journal accepts the following types of articles:

  • Research Articles: Detailed reports of original research.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews of current trends and methodologies in data science.
  • Short Communications: Brief reports on novel findings or methods in data science.

2. Submission Process

  • Submission Platform: Manuscripts should be submitted via the journal's online submission system at jasid.upnjatim.ac.id.
  • Registration: Authors must create an account on the submission system to submit a manuscript.
  • File Formats: Please submit your manuscript as a Microsoft Word document (.docx). For supplementary material, PDF files (.pdf) are also acceptable. Here is the template.

3. Manuscript Preparation

General Formatting

  • Page Layout: Use A4 size, with 1-inch margins on all sides. Text should be in Times New Roman and 9.5-point font.
  • Title: The title should be concise, informative, and clearly indicate the topic of the research. It should not exceed 20 words.
  • Abstract: Provide an abstract of no more than 250 words. The abstract should summarize the key objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of the study. Avoid references in the abstract.
  • Keywords: Include 4-6 keywords that represent the focus of the article.

Sections of the Manuscript

  1. Introduction: Briefly describe the background, motivation for the study, and the problem being addressed. Include relevant literature citations and state the main objectives of the work.

  2. Methodology: Provide a clear and detailed description of the methods and techniques used in the research. For data science applications, describe any algorithms, models, or tools used, and explain why these methods were chosen.

  3. Results: Present the key findings of your research in a logical sequence, including tables, figures, and charts where appropriate. All figures and tables should be labeled and referred to within the text.

  4. Discussion: Interpret the results in the context of existing literature. Discuss implications, limitations, and potential areas for future research.

  5. Conclusion: Summarize the main findings and their significance, including potential applications of the research.

  6. References: Cite only the most relevant literature. Follow the IEEE style for references. Ensure all references are complete and correctly formatted.

Figures and Tables

  • Figures: All figures should be submitted as high-quality images (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF) with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Each figure should have a caption below it.
  • Tables: Tables should be numbered consecutively and include clear headings for each column. Avoid vertical lines in tables.

4. Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to provide data availability statements. If the data is publicly available, include a DOI or URL. If the data is proprietary or unpublished, specify the access conditions.

5. Supplementary Materials

Authors may submit supplementary material, such as code, datasets, or additional figures, to enhance the understanding of the study. These files should be submitted as separate documents and referenced appropriately in the main manuscript.

6. Ethical Guidelines

  • Conflicts of Interest: All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may have influenced the research.
  • Ethical Approval: Studies involving human or animal subjects must include a statement confirming that ethical approval was obtained from an appropriate committee.
  • Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original and free from plagiarism. All sources must be properly cited to avoid any issues of academic misconduct.

7. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors should ensure that no identifying information is included in the manuscript file (e.g., authors’ names or affiliations). The peer reviewers will evaluate the submission based on:

  • Relevance to the journal's scope.
  • Originality and scientific contribution.
  • Clarity and quality of writing.
  • Methodological rigor.
  • Adequacy of data analysis and results.

8. Revision and Resubmission

After the peer review process, authors will receive feedback from reviewers and the editorial board. Authors must revise their manuscript accordingly and resubmit it for further review. The resubmission should include a cover letter detailing how each comment has been addressed.

9. Publication Fees

A publication fee may apply for accepted manuscripts. Authors will be informed of the fees upon acceptance. The payment details will be provided at the time of acceptance.

11. Copyright and Licensing

Upon acceptance of a manuscript, authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement.
